Trip Summary

Barbados is an eastern Caribbean island and an independent British Commonwealth nation. Bridgetown, the capital, is a cruise-ship port with colonial buildings and Nidhe Israel, a synagogue founded in 1654. Around the island are stunning beaches, botanical gardens, the Harrison’s Cave formation, and 17th-century plantation houses like St. Nicholas Abbey. Local traditions include afternoon tea and cricket, the national sport. English is the official language in Barbados.

Barbados is a small island which will take you just a few hours to drive around, and it will never take you more than about 30 minutes to get to a beach. The population is right under 300 000 people, but in spite of it being a smaller population, there is a great diversity in religion and belief systems.

There are many Christians in Barbados, but the spiritual climate in Barbados is that of heavily being influenced by religion and traditionalism. Many church members are becoming more disconnected and frustrated with the rituals and normaly in many of the churches, and several churches seem less interested in promoting the gospel and evangelism and especially reaching youth.

According to our partners in Barbados; unless something is drastically done, the church in Barbados would become a dying church within the next 20 to 30 years. A new wave of evangelism is needed to engage communities, but more so engage young people with the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We hope you would like to serve on a music mission trip in Barbados!
